In recent years, fitness centers have designed fast-paced kickboxing routines for customers who want the workout without the impact of sparring classmates. These aerobic or cardio kickboxing classes call on nearly every muscle group for a full-body workout that emphasizes fluid motion, according to AHealthyMe.com.
Typical costs:
Kickboxing studios usually charge by the month, on average $70 to $110, a rate that typically includes unlimited classes. Studios or gyms that offer drop-in rates charge around $10 per class.
Studio members are sometimes required to sign yearly contracts and pay an enrollment fee of $125 or more. Some general gyms across the country offer traditional and cardio kickboxing classes for around $10 a class or less with their memberships.
For studios that don't push yearly or even monthly commitments, some offer reduced rates for students willing to purchase bundles of sessions. There are bundles of 20 sessions available for around $275.
The cost for children is at least 20 percent cheaper than adult classes, for around $35 to $50 per month, on average. Kickboxing is considered good exercise[1] for teenagers because it teaches conditioning and discipline, as well as a good aerobic workout, according to TeensHealth, a site for youth fitness.
Classes are usually 45 minutes to an hour long. Many studios or gyms offer classes for beginners and the more experienced alike, but it is always best to ask the instructor about the level of other students in the class.
Most instructors begin with a 15-minute warm-up period that may utilize basic stretching or jumping rope. There will be at least a half hour of concentrated kickboxing, which can include punching and kicking a heavy bag, or sparring with classmates or the instructor. A brief cool down period generally follows.
Students workout barefoot or in low-tread athletic shoes and should wear comfortable workout apparel. Kickboxers traditionally wear loose fitting shorts or long pants to promote greater leg flexibility.
Additional costs:
Few studios provide fighting gloves or other free headgear, fighting gloves and other protective equipment, although some offer a pair of free gloves for new members. KarateDepot.com sells basic boxing gloves[2] for $20 to $35. Gloves for kids cost around $15.
For more sparring gear [3] , it is often less expensive to buy protective items by the set[4] for $55 to $90, which includes headgear, gloves and leg guards and a mouthpiece.
Shopping for kickboxing classes:
Before taking a class or committing to a club membership, visit a kickboxing class to observe the level of physical contact and training style of the instructor. AHealthyMe.com offers tips on choosing the right cardio kickboxing class.

First time kickboxing. 3 1/2 weeks down 12 lbs. in a 6 wk $500 challenge (includes gloves, wraps, unlimited classes), if goal is met, membership is 95/month and return of $500. If goal not met, new members $150/mo. Way too expensive. Better beat this challenge!
I Love the two instructors, the head coach has over 50 years experiences and his assistant coach she has over 22 years. I can ask them any question about fighting techniques or fitness kickboxing and get the correct answers. Also they tell you what every move does for your body..Great School!!
The women are awesome, the workouts rock, I sweat like crazy, am stocking up on ILK clothing and just got better gloves. Almost have lost 5lbs. The people are so wonderful. And the instructors are so down to earth.
I love the classes and get a great workout. They don't make me feel awful about being out of shape. They generally charge for 65 classes. I had a $50 groupon for free gloves and 10 classes and they added the 10 classes on. They took $50 off the initiation fee so it was $47 and then $125/mo through July (6 mo). Total cost was $847 for 75 classes that do not expire. It works out to $11.29 per class.
Excellent Class. It a mixture of Kickboxing, strength and conditioning and a added dance flare. It challenging and comprehensive. I Love the ab workouts and the self-defense lessons. Its worth the investment and the first class is free! Plus you get an at home workout kit for free!
I love the classses.I get a great workout, sweat, and have fun. Each class is packed with punching and kicking bags, and lots of core work. This is one of the funnest classes I have taken.
